University of Incheon

From April to the end of May 2013, on Wednesday afternoon, this course organizes presentations with various representatives of the EU established in Korea. The purpose is to gather various expatriates to discover the potential of European companies and institutions, their presence here in Korea, and the good and bad of being a European in Korea.

Furthermore, our students are interested to learn what requirements and skills are needed by European companies to get an internship or a job.
Thus during three month, guided by motivated students, different companies and institutions are invited to visit us and briefly introduce themselves, respond to the students questions, and have an enjoyable experience presenting their homeland and their objectives in Asia.

The atmosphere of these presentations is meant to be very pleasant for all of us, and to celebrate the participation of our guests properly they are invited to enjoy a dinner afterwards at the University restaurant.

Our students are studying German or French and European Trade. English skills are required. Most of them are in the 3rd or 4th academic year. Also our international exchange students can participate in this class.

In order to graduate, each group of students supervising one of the eight delegations will have to make a presentation and remarks on the website of this class:  www.europetrade.blogspot.kr

LSG Sky Chefs

On April 10th we visiteted LSG Sky Chefs, a company for airline services at Incheon International Airport. Mr Gareth Lycett, President of the company, introduced LSG Sky Chefs, later we had a tour through the facilities.

The LSG Sky Chefs group is the global leader in airline catering and the management of all in-flight service related processes. In 1942 American Airlines created Sky chefs, a wholly owned airline catering service based in AG. The Chief Executive Officer of LSG is Walter Gehl The group consists of 148 companies with 194 customer service centers in 52 countries. In 2011, it produced about 492 million airline meals for more than 300 airlines worldwide. LSG Sky Chefs' parent company, LSG Lufthansa Service Holding AG, is headquartered in Neu-Isenburg, Germany. LSG Sky Chefs acquired its comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of the in-flight service management business through almost 70 years of experience. The company was formed after the takeover of Sky Chefs, American Airlines' former catering subsidiary, by Lufthansa’s catering division Lufthansa Service GmbH. Through its catering expertise, LSG Sky Chefs has developed specialized skills in the planning, implementation and management of all processes related to in-flight services. That includes the design, development, procurement and logistics related to in-flight services equipment. As a logical extension of its capacities, LSG Sky Chefs has also begun a successful incursion into adjacent markets, such as train, school and healthcare catering as well as retail.

LSG is known as the world's leader in airline catering but they are also working with customers outside the aviation industry, providing high-quality catering and logistics services. For example, LSG Sky Chefs Industrial Catering division in Hong Kong supplies meals to the Hong Kong school district and in the United States LSG Sky Chefs partners with 세븐일레븐providing them with freshly made sandwiches, salads and wraps. In Scandinavia LSG Sky Chefs partners with Swedish Railways on buy-on-board services for the rail company's passengers. In Germany and other countries LSG Sky Chefs also caters hospitals and other healthcare facilities.
